- Josh Gad as Zak Douglas
- Dan Fogler as A.C.E.

In December 2015, Universal Animation Studios president David Stainton said that there were ideas for a sequel, and that writer David Reynolds already did a couple of script drafts for the sequel. In October 2017, Universal announced that the development on the sequel had begun, with director Mark Dindal, producers Randy Fullmer and Joe Shapiro, and Reynolds returning. Anne Hathaway and Josh Gad are set to reprise their roles respectively, while Dan Fogler, Jonah Hill, Sofía Vergara, and John Cleese were expected to return as well.
The sequel's title was officially announced in July 2018 as Luna & Zak: Level Two. Further, the majority of the voice cast, new and returning, was also announced. Burt Reynolds, one of the new cast members, unexpectedly died on September 6, 2018 during the beginning of voice recordings for the film. Later in September 27, 2018, it was announced that Bruce Dern (who is also replacing Reynolds in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) will replace Reynolds instead of writing his character out. In January 2019, David Soren was announced as the film's new director, replacing Dindal as director as he was scheduled to direct an animated Garfield feature film instead.
The film is scheduled to be released on February 21, 2020 by Universal Pictures.
